Allen Glen Kallis passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017. He was surrounded by family and friends, Allen suffered a massive heart attack late in the afternoon on July 18th. The heroic efforts of emergency personnel, doctors and nurses at St Patrick hospital unfortunately were not enough, Allen passed peacefully Wednesday Jul 19, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
Allen was born February 26, 1956, the youngest of four children to Tom and Lydia Kallis. Allen attended grade school in Missoula and graduated from Hellgate High School. Allen worked at Champion International in Bonner, MT from 1975-1988, He then worked for Imperial meats for 20 years. In 2008 Allen was hired by the TSA working at the Missoula International Airport, this was a job he loved so much and was well respected by his coworkers and all who he came in contact with, especially fly fisherman.
Allen married his high school sweetheart Laurie Paulson on August 12, 1978, Laurie was the love of his life as Allen was hers also. They took such pride in each other, their family and their beautiful home.
Allen was an avid fly fisherman, and a hunter to be reckoned with. The stories, the pictures and animal horns are a true testament of his passion to being a true sportsman. The last several years Allen enjoyed guiding fisherman on the local rivers and sharing the beauty of Western Montana with all the people he came in contact with. He was a true steward of the land.
Allen never had a harsh word to say about anyone and everyone just loved our pal “Big Al”.
Allen is survived by his beloved wife Laurie Kallis, his mother Lydia Kallis, brothers Henry Kallis, Dave Kallis (wife Mary), and sister Marcia Wiggins (husband Bruce Wiggins), brother and sister in laws, Ray and Jan Anthony, Warren and Debbie Paulson, numerous nieces and nephews. Nephew Henry Kallis was like a son to Allen and Laurie, they are so honored to have him along with his wife Michaela, son Joe, and daughter Kylie in their lives. His dog Jazz and cat Butter reside at the family home.
Services are scheduled on Saturday July 22, 2017 at 11:00 am at Garden City Funeral Home.
A private inurnment service will be held at a later date.
