Alison M. Thompson, 86, of Missoula, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 27, 2015, at her home of natural causes. She was born on Nov. 12, 1928, in San Francisco to James H. and Gladys Ritchie Mitchell.
As a young girl, she grew up in Burlingame, California, and spent many cherished summers at the family's house at Dillon Beach on the California Coast. She was an accomplished pianist in her childhood years.
She attended Community College in Menlo Park, California, where she met her future husband, George A. Thompson, on registration day. They were married Sept. 4, 1947, in Burlingame. Alison and her husband moved to Missoula in 1954, where they raised their family.
Alison and George remained married for almost 60 years until the death of her husband George in 2007. Together they raised five children. Alison was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Alison enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and weekend trips to Flathead Lake with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Glade; grandson, Aaron Springer; and sisters, Lois Blackmarr and Margaret Mitchell.
Survivors include her daughters, Louise Thompson, Susan (Kim) Liles and Alisa (Larry) Springer; son, George R. Thompson; brother, Atherton Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kristine, Scott, Aundra, Alyssa, Mark, Ben, Larisa, Tim, Jordan, Reuben and Lucas, along with 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. Burial and a reception will immediately follow.
