"Dana" Jones passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at The Village Senior Residence in Missoula. Her surviving family include her sister, Bea Bissler of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; daughters, Dana Lee Ita of Evergreen, Colorado, and Rhea Ann Ashmore, Professor Emerita at the University of Montana, Missoula; also son-in-law Douglas Ita of Evergreen; stepdaughter Deborah Brown of New York City; grandson Christopher Ita of Denver; granddaughter Carolyn Renny of New York City; and great-grandsons Carmine Joseph Renny and Gerard Richard Renny of New York City.
Growing up in Cleveland, Dana learned English, Polish and some Russian at an early age. These language skills served her well in her world travels. She married Marine NCO LeRoy C. Jones after he returned from combat duty in the Pacific during World War ll. Mr. Jones was tragically killed while on duty as a Cleveland Police Lieutenant in July 1968. Dana then lived an independent life in Brecksville, Ohio. She mowed her own lawn until the age of 80, and volunteered as an usher at The Cleveland Playhouse. She and her sister Bea were a championship bridge team and often played in tournaments. Dana traveled the world; she and her significant other, Ken Brown Sr., shared adventures together for over 30 years.
Dana continued to nurture her curiosity about the world as she experienced life in the western USA. She leaves love and good friendship as her legacy.
