Missoula: A. Dale Jacobson
May 18, 1926 - April 10, 2014
A. Dale Jacobson was born to Bea and Alfred Jacobson in Hettinger, North Dakota. After completing high school, Dale joined the Navy. He was on a ship awaiting the invasion of Japan when Japan signed the Peace Treaty.
After his honorable discharge, he accepted a summer job in Glacier Park. He moved to Missoula and attended the University of Montana. Besides accepting a job with Northern Pacific Railroad, he also worked for Burlington Northern and Montana Rail Link. He also was a Montana Game Warden, employed summers at the Frenchtown Pond and during winters, he drove school children to school for Beach Transportation. Dale still found time to be a member of the Elks Lodge and did not retire until his eighties.
Dale and Mary Jo Hunter married in 1957 and were together until his death. They never had children. He had 5 siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and two of his brothers. Dale is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, sister-in-law Lois Asch (David), and a sister and brother in Oregon and a sister in Rapid City, SD.
Services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 1:00pm at Garden City Funeral Home with military honors. Private burial will be at the Western Montana State Veteran Cemetery.
