Anita Siegle

Anita Lorainne Siegle died peacefully in her sleep on Jan 26th in Missoula, Montana at the age of 87. Anita is survived by her sister LaVerne, her children, Doug and Dennis, both of Missoula, and two grandsons, Shane of Missoula and Cody of Emigrant Montana. Anita is preceded in death by her husband Walt and her sister Jeanne Bumnann of New Salem, North Dakota.
Anita was born on Feburary 25th, 1930 in New Salem, N. D. to Bill and Amelia Starck. She attended a country school outside of Judson, N.D. through the 8th grade and graduated from New Salem High School. Upon graduation she went to work for a bank in Mandan N.D. where she met and married Walt Siegle, who worked for the local J. C. Penny store. When Walt accepted a management position the couple moved to Chinook, Montana where they welcomed the birth of their first son, Doug. When promoted Walt accepted a position in Sheridan Wyoming, where their second son, Dennis was born. The family then moved to Malta, Montana where they opened and owned the local Ben Franklin store until the couple retired in 1977.
The couple retired to Hamilton, Montana where they built a new home and became members of the Faith Lutheran Church. Ultimately Anita and Walt moved to Missoula and transferred their church affiliation to Atonement Church on the south side of town.
Anita was a member of Lutheran women’s groups throughout her adult life and served as matriarch of the family until her death.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday February 3rd at 11:00am at Atonement Lutheran Church, located at 2205 34th Street in Missoula. Pastor Daniel Disch will officiate. A reception will follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Anita’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Partners in Home Care at 2687 Palmer Street, Suite B Missoula, MT 59808.
