Obituary for Helen "Pauline" Ball

Helen "Pauline" Ball
Helen "Pauline" Ball was born on the family farm in Paris, Missouri, on March 16, 1930. The Lord called her Home on January 22, 2018, in Missoula of natural causes. Named after an aunt, she was always called Pauline. She was the second oldest of seven children.

She married James Ellis Ball on March 28, 1948, and they were married for 47 years. They had two daughters, Linda and Paula. They moved to Missoula in the summer of 1952.

Pauline worked as a waitress at the original 4B's on West Broadway; clerked at Smith Drug in Missoula; Newberrys in the then new Holiday Village, and checked groceries at Stop 'n Shop and Buttreys in Tremper Shopping Center. After retirement, she watched grandchildren, baked pastries for a local coffee shop, and was a demo person at Costco.

She was a member of Christian Life Center for over 50 years and was a greeter for 25 years. She was a contact/spokesperson for the first Alzheimers Support Group in Missoula.

She was preceeded in death by her husband James Ellis; parents Paul & Virginia James, brothers Kenneth & Charles; several brothers & sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by daughters Linda (Dennis) Romine; Paula (Wayne) Messmer; grandchildren Chris (Traci) Romine; Josh Romine; Melissa(Jacob) Notti, Krysty (Rocky) Whisman, and by seven great-grandchildren; sisters Carolyn Campbell and Beth Tilt; brothers Bob James and Larry James, sister-in-law Dorothy White and numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

We want to thank the staff at Country Home Estates and Hospice of Missoula for their kindness and loving care.

Suggested memorials are: Christian Life Center, 3801 South Russell, Missoula, MT 59801 for a mission feeding program for children; the Music & Memory program through Missoula Aging Services, 337 Stephens Avenue Missoula 59801; or Alzheimers Association for care, support and research, 2325 N Michigan, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
